uhh.. nope.

Kinja'd!!!

Replaced the filler neck on the Mazda, had to deal with a crapton of expanding foam and some hard epoxy-thing in the process, and even SELF TAPPING SCREWS. all to sort out a gasoline smell, which turned out to be a missing EVAP separator (bulge on right side of filler neck).

thankfully this is all gone. Next step after getting it to pass safety is to get it ready for either a F2T or KL V6 swap down the road. That also means getting the exhaust welded back up. and (hopefully) fixing it all.

Good work, but next time, Jackstands. Seriously.

I twitched a little seeing a car sitting on a bottle jack with a mallet nearby...

given I only had one wheel off the ground, and it was already sturdy, i decided it wasnt worth it.

Even with the other three wheels on the ground, if it comes off the jack (which I assure you, if you walked to the other side and gave the car a good shove it would tip that jack) that fourth wheel/fender/rocker is on you .

I have to agree with MM54. Regardless of how sturdy that might seem it is still a narrow footprint on a bottlejack compared to a jackstand.

Granted, it is the rear corner of a hatch so I guess it might be feasible to push it off you depending on how it fell, but is it worth the risk?

Ooof. My BG Protege sedan had a leak from the fender into the trunk I could never fix, always had a damp trunk and frosted inside windows in winter.

If you go KLZE, make sure to get a real one, it’s easy to get the ~180hp version if you don’t personally stare down an engine importer.
